As you’re probably aware, there are two sides to the conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) , which is led by investment icon Warren Buffett. One side consists of private companies, such as Geico insurance and See’s Candies.

However, Berkshire seems to remain confident in the utility and energy sectors, as evidenced by its sizable positions in Chevron and Occidental Petroleum, as well as a decision to buy the remaining 8% stake in Berkshire Hathaway Energy (or BHE, for short) -- giving Berkshire total control of the entity.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway is buying the rest of its utility unit from the estate of a longtime board member who died three years ago, but it's not clear exactly how much it will pay for the 8% stake.
