Israel has repeatedly targeted Hamas and Hezbollah officials in Lebanon since the Gaza war erupted almost a year ago.

Tensions along the Israeli-Lebanese border were increasing as the Israeli military intensified its airstrikes in Lebanon, while rockets from Gaza and Hezbollah were aimed at various locations in Israel.

The Lebanese security official was cited in international media as saying that Saturday's strike on a Palestinian refugee camp in Tripoli killed a senior member of Hamas, his wife and two children. Media affiliated with the Palestinian group said the strike killed a leader of its armed wing, naming him as Saeed Atallah.

At least 18 people have been killed in an Israeli air strike in the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarm, the Palestinian health ministry said late on Thursday.
