The new More in Common poll shows Nigel Farage’s right-wing Reform UK — which has set its sights on Labour after eating in the Conservative vote — polling third at 19 percent, with the centrist Liberal Democrats on 11 percent and the left-wing Greens polling at 7 percent.

Labour’s lead over the Conservatives in the polls has dropped to just one point following a tough first three months in office for the new government. According to pollsters More in Common – who shared their data with POLITICO’s London Playbook – Keir Starmer’s party are now a long way off the heady popularity they enjoyed after their historic victory in the general election on July 4.

When Sir Keir Starmer first approached Sue Gray early last year to be his chief of staff, he believed the veteran civil servant would bring her long Whitehall experience to Labour’s preparations for government.

The survey, conducted by More in Common for Politico, put Labour on 29 per cent and the Conservative Party on 28 per cent. Reform UK was on 19 per cent, while the Lib Dems were on 11 per cent. The Green Party was at seven per cent,
