Over in the National League, the Padres took care of business and swept the Atlanta Braves to secure their NLDS berth against the NL West rival Dodgers. The Mets, meanwhile, won their first playoff series since they made the World Series since 2015.

There were three sweeps in the Wild Card round and an absolutely crazy Game 3 between the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers. We’re seeing some teams like the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals continuing their awesome regular-season success, and we’ll see if that continues.

With just one dominant starting pitcher looming over this AL Central matchup – and Tigers lefty Tarik Skubal won’t pitch until Game 2 after dominating the Houston Astros in the wild-card series – the onus will fall on Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt and Detroit counterpart A.J. Hinch to deploy their excellent bullpens in optimal fashion.
