A 90-day pause on additional tariffs on China offers no relief to American companies already facing extraordinarily high import taxes imposed by President Trump.

But the prices of hair extensions and hair glues used to create wigs and weaves have gone up exponentially after President Donald Trump imposed a series of different tariffs on China and Vietnam, where the majority of Black beauty products are made.

Costs have increased for hair extensions, hair glue, and other essentials Black-owned beauty businesses need to operate.

Until now, America’s largest home improvement retailer has limited what it has said about the impact of tariffs on its prices. But after reporting quarterly results Tuesday, CFO Richard McPhail said Home Depot would have to implement some price increases as a result of the Trump administration’s taxes on imports.

Retailers including Lowe’s and Walmart will hold earnings calls this week, which could indicate the impact of tariffs on spending.

The nation’s largest home improvement chain said during an earnings call on Tuesday that pricing changes would affect specific product categories.
