WW International ( NASDAQ: WW ), more commonly known as WeightWatchers, will now offer compounded semaglutide to its WeightWatchers Clinic members, expanding the accessibility of popular weight loss medications to its members at a more affordable price.

WeightWatchers said on Tuesday it would offer a compounded version of Novo Nordisk's popular obesity drug Wegovy as part of its weight-management programs, sending its shares nearly 47% higher to an over two-month closing high.

WeightWatchers said it will sell compounded versions of semaglutide — the key ingredient in Novo Nordisk's Ozempic and Wegovy.

WW International announced Friday that CEO Sima Sistani would leave her role effective immediately. Tara Comonte, a WeightWatchers board member and former Shake Shack executive, was made interim chief executive.

The diet and weight-loss brand, which has struggled to adapt in the Ozempic era, is losing its latest chief executive after only two and a half years. WeightWatchers CEO Sima Sistani is leaving the company after two and a half years.

The company's shares have plummeted about 90 percent this year due to the rising popularity of GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy.
