The layoffs mark the second round of mass cuts at Amazon since last October, when the company laid off roughly 14,000 employees across its corporate workforce.
In an announcement posted by Beth Galetti, Amazon’s Senior Vice President of People Experience and Technology, on Wednesday, the company said the layoffs are part of an ongoing process to reduce layers, increase ownership and remove bureaucracy from the company.
The notifications state that employees will receive full pay and benefits for 90 days.
Amazon said it would lay off 16,000 corporate employees in 2026 on top of the 14,000 layoffs in 2025 with AI top of mind for CEO Andy Jassy and Amazon executives.
