Thanksgiving lake effect snow appetizer for Buffalo metro and feast for the southern tier
Forecasters are gaining confidence that once the lake effect snow bands set up across metro Buffalo late Wednesday, they will quickly move southward across the southtowns and then into the southern tier for Thanksgiving Day.
Winter storm watches have been issued across wide portions of western and north-central New York, where forecasters say some communities could see more than 7 inches of lake-effect snow - and localized totals close to a foot - during peak Thanksgiving travel.
Tonight a weak band of lake effect will develop and bring some light snow to Buffalo Wednesday morning. A strong cold front will move through Western New York late Wednesday through early Thursday bringing another round of snow to the area.
