There are 20 staff members who are a part of the IB program this year. Next year, the program is expecting to offer some form of IB English to all juniors, which increases the staff by five.

The instability has set off a scramble for the 83 students who requested to take Chinese classes next year. Some, especially soon-to-be seniors in the IB program, won’t have to make any changes.

A school would spend $50,000 over three years in fees and training costs. Once authorized, the elementary IB program would cost $7,600 per year with a 10 percent discount for multiple programs.

More than 110,000 students took AP, IB, AICE, dual enrollment or career education courses in Florida last year, according to the Legislature.
