Halo, once the flagship Xbox exclusive, the video game Microsoft launched its first console with, has finally jumped ship. Microsoft has announced Halo: Campaign Evolved — a remake of the original game’s campaign — and it’s coming to PlayStation 5 day one.

As part of a strategic shift away from exclusivity, Microsoft is bringing Halo to Sony’s competing console for the first time.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a full Unreal Engine 5 overhaul of the 2001 Xbox original, and in honor of the 25th anniversary, it’s going multi-platform sometime next year.

Halo: Campaign Evolved will be released sometime in 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles. Microsoft didn't reveal a price for the remake, but it will be available on Day 1 for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC subscribers .
