Ukrainian and Russian presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin looked set for a peace summit after fast-moving talks Monday between US President Donald Trump and European leaders that focused on the key issue of long-term security guarantees for Kyiv.

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine said that a full prisoner exchange was also essential to ending the war. Other European leaders also expressed their support for a cease-fire.

Just after noon, European leaders including Macron, Starmer, von der Leyen, Rutte, and Meloni began arriving one by one at the White House. According to the White House schedule, Trump will first meet with Zelensky at 1:15 p.m. before greeting the European leaders, followed by a multilateral meeting with all parties at 3:00 p.m.
