The Derby Fire that more than tripled in size on Tuesday saw “significant fire growth overnight,” prompting early Wednesday morning evacuations north of Dotsero and Interstate 70.

The Eagle Fire Department said the RA 12 Ada CO. has burned roughly 20 acres, but there are no confirmed evacuations at this time. Fire crews, including the Middletown Star firefighters, are on the scene battling the fire. "Please avoid the area while firefighters continue operations," Eagle Fire said.

The two fires are called the Derby Fire, located in Eagle County near Garfield County, and the La Plata Fire, located in Chaffee and Lake counties in the Pike-San Isabel National Forests.
