This weekend’s winter storm and ensuing bitter cold have left at least 25 people dead and caused prolonged power outages for hundreds of thousands, particularly across the southern US.
The storm has also impacted cellular networks across a number of states, with Mississippi the hardest hit. According to the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) network status report yesterday, via its Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS), 10 percent of all cell sites in the state have been knocked offline.
