Hertz Global Holdings stock jumped Wednesday after the car-rental company announced it plans to sell cars on Amazon.com. Hertz shares added 6%, closing at $5.51, while the S&P 500 fell 0.2% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose less than 0.

Amazon began selling new cars late last year through an arrangement with Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Co., but consumers still must use a Hyundai dealer to complete the sale. Amazon is also recruiting car dealers to list their used vehicles, including those designated as certified preowned, on Amazon Autos.

Rental car firm Hertz struck a deal with Amazon Autos on Wednesday to sell some of its used car inventory, which the company says will make it easier for customers to purchase cars from its fleet.
