Mumbai Metro Line 3 inaugurated by PM Modi, offering affordable fares and convenient services on new aqua line, now opens for public.

In a major boost to Mumbai’s transport system, Mumbai Metro Line 3, Aqua Line, opened its operations for the public today with a 12.69-km stretch from BKC to Aarey. Running on 33.5 km, Mumbai Metro’s Aqua Line is one of the longest underground continuous metro stretches in India and first underground metro of Mumbai city.

BKC, Bandra Colony, Santacruz, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) T1, Sahar Road, CSMIA T2, Marol Naka, Andheri, SEEPZ and Aarey Colony (JVLR), which is the only station at ground level.

The 12.69km Aarey Colony JVLR-BKC stretch is part of the Aqua Line, which extends from Aarey to Colaba. In total, the Metro Line 3 is 33.5km-long

The Metro operation on the stretch commenced for the public at 11 am, amid cheers from passengers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the 12.69 km long phase-1 of the BKC to Aarey stretch of Mumbai Metro Line 3.

Mumbai`s first underground Metro corridor, the Aqua Line 3`s Phase 1 from Aarey to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) opened to the public on Monday morning. People came in a large number to experience the Aarey-BKC Metro Line 3 ride on its first day of operations which began at 11 am amid cheers from them.
